Harry's Wonderous World is a piece that makes me feel happy. It is light, slow and legato and has a feeling of content to it. This is the soundtrack to the part in Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone when Harry is seeing himself and his parents as a family. He is seeing this through the Mirror of Erised. This fills him with happiness and content. Yet there is a bit of a sad tone to this song because he realizes that his parents aren't there.
Nice example! Yes, film scores do a great job of conveying emotions that are internally felt by the characters on screen - so yes, the composer's doing a great job here! Aside from the lightness, slow tempo, and legato feel, how else would you describe the piece? How would you describe the texture? Do you notice any patterns in the form? (Is there a form at all, or is it through composed? Through composed means it's just one musical idea after another) And this may be a big question to ask but how does the composer utilize orchestration (using the instruments in an ensemble setting) to get across this intention of conveying some sort of magic in "Harry's Wondrous World?" What instruments are used at which moments, and to what purpose?
